Medical assistance in dying (MAID) is legal in Canada. Other countries also allow hastened death. As with other types of death, it’s important to be honest with children when someone in their life chooses medical assistance in dying.

This chapter includes how to explain what medical assistance in dying means. It looks at the fears children may have about assisted death, whether they should be present at the bedside, and fielding questions from others after the death.
