Chapter 5: The 4 C's

What are the 4 C's?

The 4 Cs are four common concerns that children have when someone they care about is seriously ill, dying or has died. They are:

  • Can I CATCH it?
  • Did I CAUSE it?
  • Can I CURE it?
  • Who will take CARE of me?

It’s important to address these concerns even if your child hasn’t brought them up. Many children don’t share these thoughts and worries even with those they’re closest to.
