Chapter 2: Planning for collaboration with a grieving family
Introduction

As an administrator, you should make initial contact with any grieving family in your school community. Whether this is the family of one of your students or of a staff member; and whether a death is anticipated or is unexpected, your purpose will be to express condolences and support, and obtain information that you can share with the rest of your school community.
